Lancaster flypast in honour of Tupwood Gate resident

The son of a resident at Tupwood Gate Nursing Home recently organised a fly past of a Lancaster Bomber over the nursing home. The fly past was organised in honour of another resident who had served as a rear gunner on a Lancaster and also as a thank you to staff at Tupwood.

The Lancaster was accompanied by a Spitfire and a Hurricane which were on their back from the Biggin Hill Air Show. Residents and staff were asked to gather in the garden and wave pillow cases and white towels to guide them in.

The planes came round the home twice before on the third run flying directly over the patio at 500 feet to the delight of residents, families, neighbours and staff.

We feel very honoured that this could be arranged especially for the resident and as a thank you to the staff of Tupwood Gate.
